Hand-made Carob Bliss Balls - vegan & gluten-freeHmmm … these Bliss Balls really live up to their name. They are chocolaty-fudgy and the perfect mix of praline, truffles & energy balls. When taking a bite, you just have to close your eyes for a moment and enjoy. Pure bliss. βœ¨πŸ’›πŸ’«

Hand-made Carob Bliss Balls - vegan & gluten-freeThe little special feature of my Bliss Balls is that you don’t need a food processor to make them. Everything really is completely ‘hand-made’, for sure. πŸ˜‰

The inspiration bug bit me the other night, when I suddenly got a huge appetite for Bliss Balls, but all my supplies were nibbled & gone. Since my little son was already lying in bed and sleeping, the use of the food processor was not an option. 🀷 So I had to get creative and improvise a little, but the result is more than rewarding. I still had to tune the recipe a little bit and now that it’s ready the time has come: my Handmade Carob Bliss Balls are coming to the blog & hopefully to your home, too.

Hand-made Carob Bliss Balls - vegan & gluten-freeHand-made Carob Bliss Balls - vegan & gluten-freeThe little balls are not only delicious, but also quickly made. All you need are 7 ingredients, 1 fork, 1 bowl and 10 minutes of your time for the perfect bliss (balls) πŸ™‚. As I like my Bliss Balls a bit smaller, these have a diameter of about 2 cm. The recipe is enough for 12 balls and is therefore perfect for sharing: Unexpected guests, your best friend in need of a little comfort nibble or the movie night that’s still missing a treat.

Hand-made Carob Bliss Balls - vegan & gluten-freeSo, let’s go! Off to the kitchen, put the kettle on, make some delicious Bliss Balls and just 10 minutes later snuggle up on the couch with a cup of your favorite tea and these little balls of heaven. πŸ’› Enjoy! XO, Romy

Ingredients
  • 4 medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 Tbsp ground tiger nuts*
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter, preferable white one
  • 1 Tbsp carob powder**
  • 1/2 tsp ground vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 2 tsp rice milk, optional, or other plant based milk
  • 1 Tbsp desiccated coconut, optional, for decoration
Instructions
  1. Mash the dates with a fork until they have a creamy consistency (about 1 minute).

  2. Mix almonds, carob powder and the spices together in a bowl.

  3. Add the dates and almond butter and mix carefully with the fork.

If the mixture is still too dry, add 1-2 teaspoons of plant-milk and finally knead it all by hand until you're left with a smooth dough-like ball.

  4. Form 12 balls and roll them in the desiccated coconut.

  5. Keep the Bliss Balls in the fridge or just enjoy them immediately.

Packed in an airtight container, they keep in the fridge for several days. With me, however, they are always gone after just 1 day. πŸ˜…

Notes
*You can use ground almonds as well.
Β
** You can also use unsweetened cocoa powder here. The Bliss Balls then will turn out a bit tart and chocolatier.
